WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
ILLUSTRATION– COMICS - ANIMATION
Semesters A & B:
- Main principles: Line, Shape, Shade, Form, Colour, Space, Rhythm
- Drawing with a model: Portrait, Anatomy study, Perspective model drawing, Model movement study, Model Drawings from memory
- Thumbnails, Key black-and-white and colour composition principles, Composition study
- Natural materials (pencil, coal, marker, ink, watercolour, acrylics, oils) and digital means (SAI Tools, Krita, Photoshop)
- Types of paper and their characteristics
- Black-and-white and colour monotype (printing using rotorgravure press)
- “Engraving from Renaissance to Modernism” (lecture)
- Drawing of internal and external spaces (perspective), Drawing of internal and external spaces from memory
- Drawing in nature (trees, rocks, atmospheric perspective), colour studies in nature
- Drawing of daily objects
- Sketchbooks
- Key principles in colour (shade, tone, complementary, warm, cold colours, colour palettes, earthy colours)
- Experimental expression techniques, Use of reference (i.e. photos, video stills)
- LETTERPRESS
- Black-and-white and colour xylography
- “Engraving from Renaissance to Modernism” (lecture, continuing in the 2nd semester) (The curriculum of semester A will be repeated in semester B)
Semesters C & D:
Drawing and colour of semesters A’ and B’ curriculum

- Rotoscoping (Silhouette)

- Claymation (character forming, set, lighting)
