WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

ILLUSTRATION– COMICS - ANIMATION
Semesters A & B:
  1. Main principles: Line, Shape, Shade, Form, Colour, Space, Rhythm
  2. Drawing with a model: Portrait, Anatomy study, Perspective model drawing, Model movement study, Model Drawings from memory 
  3. Thumbnails, Key black-and-white and colour composition principles, Composition study
  4. Natural materials (pencil, coal, marker, ink, watercolour, acrylics, oils) and digital means (SAI Tools, Krita, Photoshop)
  5. Types of paper and their characteristics
  6. Black-and-white and colour monotype (printing using rotorgravure press)
  7. “Engraving from Renaissance to Modernism” (lecture)
  8. Drawing of internal and external spaces (perspective), Drawing of internal and external spaces from memory
  9. Drawing in nature (trees, rocks, atmospheric perspective), colour studies in nature
  10. Drawing of daily objects 
  11. Sketchbooks 
  12. Key principles in colour (shade, tone, complementary, warm, cold colours, colour palettes, earthy colours) 
  13. Experimental expression techniques, Use of reference (i.e. photos, video stills) 
  14. LETTERPRESS

  5. Rotoscoping (Silhouette) 
  6. Facial expression/Lip sync 
  7. Claymation (character forming, set, lighting) 
  8. Micro-sculpture of characters using polymer clay 
  9. Introduction to digital sculpture (Zbrush) 
  10. Photography and editing in animation (Premiere), Introduction to After Effects 
  11. “Comic - Animation in the States and Japan” (lecture)
