Due to the special character and nature of the artistic scope of the Department of Visual Arts of the Athens School of Fine Arts, the entrance exams are not governed by the general Entrance Exams system. The Department holds special entrance exams, in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs No Φ.151/2995/Β6/13.1.2010 (GG 55/2010 issue. Β΄).
The entrance exams are carried out by the Entrance Exams Committee with the participation of first-degree Professors and Associate Professors of the Teaching and Research Staff members as well as one (1) Associate Professor of the Teaching and Research Staff and one (1) Lecturer of the Teaching and Research Staff , who are appointed periodically (or every year) by the Senate.
The candidates for the 1st year of the Department prepare visual art works based on various compositions - models, animated or not or both. The Entrance Exams Committee decides on and places the models in the contestants’ rooms. For each test, the contestant chooses freely one or more models, with the exception of those tests set as compulsory with the decision of the Entrance Exams Committee. The Entrance Exams are carried out in September and their duration is 5 days.
