WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

(Studio 1- 2)

Part Α: Study of the human figure 1-2. Detailed approach to Plastic relations (Analogies, Structure and internal organisation of the relations forming the work in terms of design, tone, colour and composition). The results of the study, the overall development of the students during the semester, the teaching and the overall operation lead to a uniform artistic experience and knowledge, to the development of drawing and painting skills and the practical initiation and formation of a single artistic process.
Part B: Study and research of a Modern Art genealogy 1-2. Assignment of a project to each student of the semester to study and present important-characteristic artists of Modern Art from the fifties (‘50) to the present day. The course operates at an individual and collective level and aims at the development, knowledge and evolution of the semester students, as well as a uniform artistic experience and knowledge and the initiation and formation of an artistic method of visual processing that shapes critical thinking.

(Studio 3)
Part Α: Study of the human figure 3. Detailed approach to Plastic relations (Analogies, Structure and internal organisation of the relations forming the work in terms of design, tone, colour and composition). Students will complete the concept and the practice of a detailed-analogue painting study on the human figure and will face new artistic exercises and issues.
Part B: Visual art exercises, The Object, From frame to space, Assortments, Formulations, elliptic narratives in a work of art, proposals, possibilities and final art formats. The archive in Modern Art.
The unity of the exercises on basic problems of Modern Art aims to allow students to engage with investigate and familiarise themselves with the challenges of modern art. Students have to deal with new dimensions, materials, morphoplastic means and expression formats, new ways of articulation and organisation. Formats, means and artistic attitudes requiring new methods, systems and concepts.
Part C: Groups, Trends, movements, Modern Art Movements; Study and research of a Modern Art genealogy 1-2. Assignment of a project to each 3rd semester student. During the joint weekly meetings - presentations, every week, one to two students successively present the first results of their research, the typological characteristics and the context of the era.

(Studio 4) Aims to develop drawing experiences and skills in order to form a personal character and a personal interpretation and visual art thinking.
Part Α: Visual art exercises, The Object, From frame to space, Assortments, Formulations, elliptic narratives in a work of art, proposals, possibilities and final art formats. Archiving in Modern Art.
The unity of the exercises on basic problems of Modern Art aims to allow students to engage with, investigate and familiarise themselves with the challenges of modern art. Students have to deal with new dimensions, materials, imagistic means and expression formats, new ways of articulation and organisation; Formats, means and artistic attitudes requiring new methods, systems and concepts.

(Studio 5) Aims to develop drawing experiences and skills in order to form a personal character and a personal interpretation and visual art thinking.

(Studio 6) Aims to develop drawing experiences and skills in order to form a personal character and a personal interpretation and visual art thinking.

Part Α: Realism, fragments, Expansions, Virtual art exercises, The Object, From frame to space, Assortments, Formulations, elliptic narratives in a work of art, proposals, possibilities and final art formats; Archiving in Modern Art, new means, combination means and formats; The unity of the exercises on basic problems of Modern Art aims to allow students to engage with, investigate and familiarise themselves with the challenges of modern art. Students have to deal with new dimensions, materials, imagistic means and expression formats, new ways of articulation and organisation; Formats, means and artistic attitudes requiring new methods, systems and concepts.

During the joint weekly meetings - presentations, every week, one to two students successively present the first results of their research, the typological characteristics and the context of the era.

(Studio 7)
Consolidation through the development of personal, expressive research. Part Α: Realism, fragments, Expansions of means and expression formats.
Part B: Development of a systematic investigation of the student's references and interrelationships of artistic expressive research with the theory and history of art and ideas. It aims to the development of knowledge, the evolution of the semester students, a unified artistic experience and knowledge and the formation of an artistic process in combination with the systematic investigation of references and deepening of and developing a personal expressive research. Teaching becomes more individualised with the object to help and support the student in their personal work, to strengthen their character and choices of expression and the context in which the work of art is formed.

(Studio 8, 9, 10) Consolidation through the development of personal, expressive research. A unified artistic experience and knowledge and formation of an artistic process in combination with the systematic investigation of references and deepening of and developing a personal expressive research.
Part Α: Realism, fragments, Expansions of means and expression formats. Part B: Development of a systematic investigation of the student's references and interrelationships of artistic expressive research with the theory and history of art and ideas. Individualised teaching with the object to help and support the student in their personal work, to strengthen their character and choices of expression and the context in which the work of art is formed.

Other useful information (specific seminars, trips, etc.)
  • The educational process of the workshop is developed collectively, both in terms of a single - uniform teaching of the art workshop but also in terms of individualised teaching in the monitoring of the work-study of each student. 
  • The course is assignment-based and operates at a collective level as it is mandatory to present and comment, while the active participation of all students in the workshop is a given. During the joint weekly meetings - presentations, every week students successively present the results of their investigation in the context of their assignments. Preparing and developing an assignment-presentation requires studying in the library and online. Studying artists’ monographs and their classification in typologies, categories and art groups or movements of their era. Presentations are carried out with a power point application. Students comment on the works, focusing in particular on the first formative works of the artist, the process of shaping their personal body of work, the evolution and development of the overall work, the typological characteristics and the context of the era in which the work is categorised. A discussion among the students of all years follows and is concluded with a review by the Workshop Professor.
